CG& reflects a calling for an outlet for artists and creatives of South Asian heritage to express themselves and show their work. The format of a Summer Show offers an expansive, inclusive and somewhat ‘unstructured’ environment for a cross section of artists at varying stages of their practice to exhibit new work, existing work or themes which reflect their current ‘work-in-progress’ - it is this melting pot which expresses the art and mood of the moment.

At the core of CG&, is a spirit of community and connection amongst the South Asian diaspora, to reflect the experience of the current generation who share common interests as well as their culture and heritage.

Having an ‘open curation’ allows exploration across a broad range of themes which may or may not show up through the work - identity, belonging, tribe, acceptance, well-being, authenticity, observation, politics - also techniques, skills and experiences which sit outside of the realms of heritage and  ‘cultural baggage’. The time feels right to hold space for all of this and celebrate this rich diversity of life.

This year we are delighted to work with Saskia Fernando Gallery in Sri Lanka who are exhibiting three Sri Lankan artists - Abdul Halik Azeez, Muvindu Binoy and Charith Wijesundara.
